FAQ

What is ‘Intelligent Weight Loss’

Our Intelligent Weight Loss Method is a five pillar approach developed by nutritionist Kim Pearson. It's designed to support you in overcoming your weight challenges, reaching your goal weight and maintaining it long term.

Intelligent Weight Loss comprises the following five pillars: Health Optimisation, Smart Nutrition, Lifestyle Refinement, Mindset Evolution and Supportive Accountability.

Kim developed the Intelligent Weight Loss Method after having worked with hundreds of clients over 10 years in clinical practice. For more information please visit our Intelligent Weight Loss page.

How much weight can I expect to lose?

You can expect to lose between 3.5-7kgs / 7-15lbs in the first month of your programme. Our clients lose an average of 3.8kgs / 8.3lbs in their first month with us.

A variety of different factors affect how quickly you will lose weight. These include your state of health, medications, stress levels and the dietary approach you and your practitioner decide is best for you.

What type of diet will you recommend for me?

We know that no one diet fits all. We all have different goals, different challenges and different lifestyles. How can we expect one solution to work for everyone? For that reason, we provide a range of dietary strategies.

During your initial consultation we’ll work with you to identify the best dietary approach for you. We’ll further tailor it to your needs and create you a bespoke plan with clear guidelines and practical advice. Over time, we will work with you to refine and adapt your plan to ensure that you’re enjoying your food, not feeling hungry, that it’s fitting in with your lifestyle and getting you maximum results.

You may be given a whole food plan based on everyday foods you can buy from the supermarket. Your plan will detail how to structure meals, portion sizes, meal ideas and what to avoid or minimise intake of.

We offer a sophisticated, ketognic, protein based, meal replacement diet. (This is very different to the more widely available, nutritionally inferior brands on the market).

You practitioner may advise a fast mimicking diet like ProLon as an adjunct to your whole food plan.

Time restricted eating (eating within a set window of time each day) may also be advised.

More information can be found on the Diets We Offer page of our site. We'll work with you to find the solution best suited to you.

Do you run tests?

We provide a range of functional health tests in order to gain a deeper understanding of your health. During your Initial Consultation your practitioner will identify whether running tests would be helpful for you. Based on the results, your dietary, lifestyle and / or supplements plan may be adapted.

We offer a wide range of different tests. These include, but are not limited to, comprehensive thyroid tests, gut health screens, adrenal stress profiles, blood nutrient levels, DNA tests and more.

For further information on the tests we provide, please visit our Functional Testing page.

Will I feel hungry?

Many of our clients who have been on overly restrictive diets in the past expect to have to suffer with excessive hunger if they want to lose weight. This is not the case. We don’t want any of our clients to feel excessively hungry as they lose weight. You won’t go to bed with a hollow feeling or wake up with a grumbling stomach. Your meals will be nourishing and satisfying.

That said, if you’re someone who eats so often that you never experience true hunger, you may well be reintroduced to it on this journey. Hunger is a normal feeling, it’s your body’s way of communicating to you that it needs food. We’ll encourage you to honour true hunger with satisfying food, rather than ignore or suppress it.

How will you ensure I don’t regain weight?

Sadly, it’s widely understood that 80-90% of people who lose weight go on to regain it afterwards. We are committed to ensuring you don’t become one of those statistics. No client on our Maintenance Programme has regained more than 1.5kgs. How do we ensure this?

Firstly, we address the root cause of your weight gain. Whether it's an underlying health issue, emotional eating or a lack of self-prioritisation. Most of our clients have a fairly good understanding of what a healthy diet looks like. They know it's healthier to choose a salad over a pizza. And yet despite their knowledge they still struggle. It's only through addressing the root cause that we can ensure lasting change and prevent weight regain.

Our Maintenance Programme ensures that you continue to receive the support, guidance and accountability to stay on track long term.

I’m an emotional eater. Can you help me overcome my urges to eat my feelings?

Supporting our clients in overcoming emotional eating challenges is one way that our approach really differs. Mindset Evolution is one of the pillars of our Intelligent Weight Loss Method. This is facilitated through behavioural coaching, which each of our practitioners is trained in. We will support you in understanding what drives your non-hunger eating and meeting your emotional needs in healthier ways. This doesn't mean constantly having to rely on willpower. It means understanding yourself better so that you can give yourself what you truly need.

I’ve struggled to lose weight in the past, will you be able to help me?

Many of the client we work with have struggled to lose weight, or maintain their weight loss, in the past. Prior to working with us, we offer you a complimentary call with Kim in order to understand your current challenges and ensure we are able to help you. We will only accept you onto one of our programmes if we are confident you will achieve your goals with our approach. If we don't feel that our clinic offers the solution you need, we may refer you to another specialist who can better support you.  We are committed to ensuring you find the right solution for you.

I have a busy lifestyle. I eat out at restaurants and enjoy holidays. Will Il be able to follow the plan you give me?

Absolutely. Our clients tend to be busy people with active lives. We believe that your weight loss plan should work around your lifestyle as much as possible. You won’t have to put your life on hold to achieve your goal. Your practitioner will get to know you and your lifestyle and support you in finding practical ways to manage events like holidays, meals at restaurants and religious celebrations.

Do you work with men?

We certainly do. In fact, men respond particularly well to our dietary approaches. We’ll tailor your plan to ensure you lose body fat while preserving lean muscle mass.

Find out more about our work with men here: Weight Loss For Men.

Will my skin sag?

This is a common concern, particularly amongst our clients who have a significant amount of weight to lose. The good news is that much can be done to prevent excess skin sagging.

Skin is made up of collagen and elastin, both of which are proteins. They rely on an optimal intake of dietary protein in order to maintain their structure and integrity and prevent sagging. Your plan will be nutritionally complete and provide an optimal amounts of protein and other essential nutrients to support your skin structure and your wider health.

I don't live in London, can you still help me?

Yes, absolutely. We consult clients from across the UK and the world using our fully remote virtual consulting platform. If we recommend tests for you, kits can be sent to your home. There's nothing that we do in clinic that cannot be organised remotely.

Will I have to exercise?

Exercise is not necessary for weight loss. Of course, exercise is beneficial for many aspects of health and it's something we encourage. During your initial consultation you will talk through exercise with your practitioner and decide together whether it's something you wish to incorporate into your plan.
