DOES PLANNING HELP WITH WEIGHT LOSS?
How important is proper planning when it comes to reaching weight loss goals? In our opinion, it’s vital! We all know that consuming less calories, opting for healthy, unprocessed foods, and moving more are the building blocks of good health. But knowing what you should be doing, and actually doing it, are two different things. Below, founder Kim Pearson shares a case study to demonstrate this.
WEIGHT LOSS PLAN: CASE STUDY
‘During a stay with a friend, I noticed various food, drink, and supplement products in her cupboards that I had recommended to her over the years. I was happy to see that she was taking on board my advice and prioritising her health. However, when I spoke with her about it, she admitted that she still felt “a bit all over the place” and “inconsistent” when it came to managing her health and weight.
‘I wanted to help my friend, so we decided to talk things through and come up with a clear plan. We discussed her current lifestyle, the habits that were supporting her, and those she was inconsistent with or needed to work on. We did the following:
- Reviewed her supplements and clarified how many of which ones she should be taking, and when.
- Ordered a pill organiser so supplements could be split into daily doses. (I find this can make a big difference to consistency.)
- Ordered two tests to explore aspects of her health in more detail.
- Created a realistic nutrition plan outlining typical breakfasts, lunches, and dinners. I shared some easy meal ideas and recipes that I knew both she and her sons would enjoy.
NEXT STEPS
‘I created a profile for my friend in our clinic’s practice management software, Practice Better, wrote out the plan we discussed, and shared it with her. (Our clients love the Better app, which enables easy access to their protocols, wherever they are.)
‘After we had established a clear strategy, my friend said to me, “I feel so much better now that I’ve got a plan and I know exactly what I’m doing.”
